Thanks for your feedback :)

One of our goals for April and May was to increase awareness about the re.web project. We think we did! Traffic (in the form of visits) on the project site is way up and 42 of you completed our feedback form.

Those who completed the feedback form would like the W&M web to include:
  • a better campus map
  • a better search
  • a better events calendar
  • a sleek and attractive design
  • more photos
  • a drop down list of all majors on the home page

But How Do I Get There?

Yesterday, Tim Jones and I met with W&M's Assistant Dean for Disability Services, Lisa Colligan. Lisa briefed us about a campus map effort that will offer not only access information for those with disabilities, but also an up-to-date and more informative map of our campus.

Tim and I will represent this need during the broader re.web project and Lisa will continue to seek funding for the map project.

Considering Contribute

As a part of our review of products for managing web content, we are considering Adobe Contribute. W&M's Law School and Swem Library are both using it to manage their sites. Additionally, we plan to spend some time talking with folks at Christopher Newport University about their deployment of the product.

More to come ....

The Word Is Getting Out

I had the opportunity to speak with Larry Pulley, Dean of the Mason School of Business, about the re.web project. Continued partnership with individuals in the Business School will be critical and we look forward to learning from their web redesign project experience.

Meetings continue ... soon I hope to catch up with the School of Education (Ginny McLaughlin, Tom Ward, and Dot Osborne), Athletics (Terry Driscoll), and VIMS (I think they have a new webmaster!)

Every Seat Taken at the Pre-proposal Conference

Today, we offered an optional pre-proposal conference for vendors interested in our Web Redesign RFP. In total, 11 companies were represented. All of the RFP Committee members were present - meaning there weren't many empty chairs in the Procurement Conference Room!

Now we wait. Proposals are due by 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 22, 2007.

Taking It to the Streets

Today, the RFP for the W&M Web Redesign was posted on eVA! The web redesign project team and advisory committee benefited from the commitment of Sandra Eatmon and Mary Hicks-Coston in our Procurement Office.

In the life of a project like this, getting the RFP complete and advertised is a big deal. Not like a royal visit, but still worth noting ;)
